Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 14 September 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Malta Discount Card platform and services. By creating an account or purchasing a card, you agree to these Terms.
Who you are contracting with
- Malta Discount Card Ltd, a company registered in Malta.
- Company registration number: C72373.
- Registered office: 33 Triq Papa Piju XII, Birkirkara, Malta.
- VAT registration number: MT23112027.
- Contact: info@maltadiscountcard.com, or the Contact page.
The service
Malta Discount Card provides a discount card that entitles holders to discounts at participating establishments in Malta. Discounts, participating establishments, and terms of individual offers may change over time.
Accounts
- You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
- You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
- The account holder is the adult who buys the card and contracts with us. A card can be bought for someone else, including a child, and is used by the person named on it.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Purchases and payment
Card purchases are processed by Stripe, our only payment provider. The price shown at checkout is the total price you pay: it includes VAT and every other tax, and any delivery charge is shown separately before you confirm. By completing a purchase you authorise the charge to your selected payment method.
Your membership starts on the date shown at checkout — immediately, or on the future start date you chose. If it starts immediately you do not have to wait for a physical card to use it: your card number is emailed to you as soon as the purchase completes and works at participating establishments straight away. A card with a future start date works from that date. The plastic card is a convenience, not the membership itself.
Delivery of physical cards
- How cards are sent: by MaltaPost, as ordinary post.
- When they are sent: within 1-2 working days of your order - the same wording your order summary and your dashboard show you.
- How long delivery takes: within 5 working days to an address in Malta, and within 2 working days to a hotel or Airbnb, where we deliver by hand.
- Delivery outside Malta: we quote the delivery time for your destination at checkout, and that quote is the delivery time we owe you. If no time is quoted, we deliver within 30 days of your order.
- If your card does not arrive: tell us as soon as the delivery time above has passed. We take you at your word, and from 14 days after dispatch we reissue the card free of charge.
Until the card reaches you, the risk of loss in transit is ours. If the delivery time above passes, you may give us a short additional period in writing and, if the card still does not arrive, cancel the order for a full refund including any delivery charge — and if the reissued card does not arrive either, the same right applies to it.
Where you ask us to deliver to a hotel reception or to an Airbnb host, you are naming that reception or host as the person who takes delivery for you, and delivery to them within the published time counts as delivery to you. If you tell us the card never reached you from them, the non-delivery rule above applies instead.
Replacing a card you have lost. If a card that reached you is lost or stolen, or you damage it, we will issue a replacement for EUR 20. We charge nothing if the card itself is faulty or fails in normal use, and nothing for a card that never arrived, which is always reissued free.
Cancellation and refunds
As a consumer buying at a distance you have 14 days to change your mind, and you do not have to give a reason.
- When the 14 days run: from the day you bought a virtual card, and from the day you (or someone you named) received a physical card.
- How to cancel: tell us in a clear statement before the 14 days are up — an email to info@maltadiscountcard.com saying you are cancelling is enough. You may use the model form below, but you do not have to.
- What we refund: everything you paid for the card. On a physical card we also refund what you paid us to send it, plus the standard delivery charge — if you chose a faster or more expensive delivery option, we refund the standard one.
- Returning a physical card: please send it back to the registered office above within 14 days of telling us you are cancelling. The cost of returning it is yours.
- How and when we pay: to the payment method you used, within 14 days of you telling us you are cancelling. For a physical card we may hold the money until we have the card back or you show us it has been sent, whichever is earlier.
Model cancellation form. To cancel, you may copy this and send it to us: "To Malta Discount Card Ltd, 33 Triq Papa Piju XII, Birkirkara, Malta, info@maltadiscountcard.com: I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract of sale for the following card [card number / order reference], ordered on [date] and received on [date]. Name of consumer. Address of consumer. Date."
After the 14 days, the card is yours for its term and we do not offer a discretionary refund. That does not touch your rights if something is wrong: if the card or the service is faulty, does not match what we described, or stops working, the remedies Maltese and EU consumer law gives you still apply — see Your statutory rights below.
What happens to the card. When a card is refunded the membership ends and the card is no longer valid: it may not be used at a participating establishment, and a physical card must be returned to us.
Nothing in this section limits the rights Maltese and EU consumer law gives you.
Acceptable use
- Do not misuse, resell, or fraudulently redeem cards or discounts.
- Do not attempt to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the platform.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits our own obligation to supply what we sold you: if a participating establishment refuses to honour a valid card, tell us and we will put it right or refund you. We are not responsible for anything else an establishment does, for the quality of what it sells, or for an offer it changes or withdraws.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms where there is a valid reason to — a change in the law, in how the service works, or in what it costs us to run. If a change affects a card you already hold, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and if you do not accept it you may cancel your membership and we will refund the part of the price covering the time you have not used. Changes that do not affect you take effect when we publish them.
Your statutory rights
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the rights you have as a consumer under Maltese law or under the consumer law of the EU or EEA country you live in. Where a term in these Terms conflicts with one of those rights, that right applies.
Complaints
If something goes wrong, write to info@maltadiscountcard.com first and we will try to settle it. If we cannot, you can take the matter to the Office for Consumer Affairs at the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA), and consumers living elsewhere in the EU can also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Malta. If you live in another EU or EEA country, that choice does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. See also our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.
